Urban Block Party

While wandering around Soho one lazy, Sunday afternoon I stumbled upon the Nike Block Party. Mercer was blocked and the street was filled with ice cream trucks, bicycles, Run DMC meets hipster style, turntables and free beer. Hello summer.

Wooster & Grand

Global Charms

These are a few photographs I took while in one of my favorite shops in Manhattan. The vibrant colors and craftsmanship inspires me immensely.. A collection of miniature treasures from Africa, India, South East Asia and the Middle East. Beads of Paradise, 16 East 17th Street NYC

Disaster, Perfection

I took this photograph outside the Central Park Conservatory and it has become one of my favorite stills. It reminds me of green midwest sky during a tornado and the song Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin. Tornado meets heaven, disaster meets perfection.

Affinity

Recently my dear friend invited me to her photo exhibition at Warehouse Gallery in Brooklyn where she was featured among 9 other photographers. The dreamy, beautifully colorful film photographs were taken by Christina Rizk, who has an affinity for Ohio as I have for Egypt (which works perfectly since I am from Ohio and she from Cairo). Her photographs at the exhibition were especially close to my heart because a few of them were taken in Southern Ohio. She has such an amazing eye and her work and her life inspires me immensely--along with her own work, she travels the world documenting feeding programs for the organization ChildCry which feeds hungry children in 23 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia. She doesn't know that I am posting this and I hope she is not embarrassed being as humble as she is, but I am so inspired by her and the organization ChildCry that I had to share.

Ode to a King, Named McQueen

I took this photograph on February 12, 2010 at the Jimmy Choo, Choo 24:7 launch party. This particular model attending the event donned a literal handful of Alexander McQueen jewelry upon the sad day of his death.

Velvet Crush

Fellow fashion photo blogger, if that is what this is, whom I met outside of the tents during the Fall 2010 RTW shows. I've got a feeling we will be seeing a lot of velvet this fall...
And surprisingly I don't mind it.

Good Charlotte

During New York Fashion Week Fall 2010, backstage at Charlotte Ronson, one of my favorite young American designers, here are a few behind-the-scenes stills. The mix of slouchy silhouettes, pops of rust, rose and chambray blue, hammered silk and floor-length pleated skirts, 1970's inspired studded platform booties, globe trotting turbans and perfectly tousled lengthy locks made for a wonderfully eclectic ready-to-wear collection.
